HALLOWEEN

Boo!

Halloween is here tomorrow, and we are all ready!

As you may remember, my dad brought up some really nice pumpkins from the Annapolis Valley, in NS. Our pumpkin picking grounds as children. I was so happy to receive these pumpkins! They meant alot to me.

Well, a few days ago, when my hunny came home he discovered one of those pumpkins had been thrown on top of our wood pile. Smashed. We were both so disappointed.

However. We still have one really great pumpkin, and tonight was the night to carve her up!!

and yes, my favorite mister hunny had a fun time carving too.

Even though I am working tomorrow, I will be home in time for the trick or treaters. I love it.

Happy Halloween Everyone!

BLACK AND BLUE BUTTERFLY

Good Morning Everyone!

While my hunny was splitting wood, and I was stacking, he came across a little surprise.

We think perhaps it was hiding inside a big log, keeping out of the cold.

Is that even local to here? I mean, I've seen butterflies like this at the insectarium but I don't remember ever coming across anything this "exotic" looking just outside in nature.

The blue spots were so bright, and she was very large. And cold I think, she didn't have much interest in moving at all.

I'm going to have to google info on butterflies. My hunny seemed to think she was hibernating, I was pretty sure she was just trying not to freeze to death with her short little lifespan.

Either way, she eventually disappeared and hopefully on her own.

Have a great day everyone!
Don't work too hard!

MOOS AND BOOS

We woke up this morning dark and early.... picked up my hunny's dad and hit the road.
Destination? Woods.

This is the view from our first little trek. I must say, I do like going uphill a whole lot more than going down. We were parked down by the pond. It was totally still, not a breeze. Perfection.

The men checked a few rabbit snares, set a couple more... oh and I of course snapped photos.

and I have to tell you... a certain little Remy was particularly goofy today. So prepare yourself to be bombarded with little girl pictures in this post.

We can't forget little bear man. Don't laugh at me, I was up early and in the woods. Yes, I was even wearing my new pretty rubber boots my hunny gave me. Now if you look at the photo directly below, on the right, I think that Remy's expression is HILARIOUS. Best photo of the day! Wait til her dad sees... hahaha.. "Mom! What are you doing?!"

Remy and her pop were watching caribou at this point. She loves the woods.

After hunting, we went to get what we originally came for - a load of wood. I love this photo because my hunny and his dad are about to cut down this tree, and soon as they started up the chainsaw - Remy was out.of.there! As you can see by this picture. Hehe

Remy wasn't too impressed with the unnatural noise, and I was rather worried a little wandering bear might get squat by rolling wood so.... We went exploring!

The dogs wore themselves out. Tired dogs are happy dogs and they had SO much fun. So did I actually, the fresh outdoors was wonderful and I just love the fall. What do you make of the new camera?

Overall, our animal count for the morning was 4 moose, 4 caribou and one absolutely HUGE bald eagle. 6 hours later, we were home and it was only 1pm. Still time to do a full day's work around the house. Haha, lucky us. I must tell you though, I doubt I will have any troubles sleeping tonight.

I hope that you all had a lovely Tuesday.

Try not to work too hard!

xoxo.

p.s. Does anyone know if mini Halloween Tootsie Rolls are super bad for you? I fall for them EVERY YEAR.

p.p.s. Next year I'm seriously going to buy treats I don't like myself.

p.p.p.s. I absolutely had to come back and edit this photo in. Don't you think it looks like they are holding hands?

IMG_0001

Good Morning Everyone!

I may not have gotten a photo of my hunny getting his moose, but I did get a photo of the meat hanging. So if you are sensitive perhaps quit now - before looking below this text.

First I will show you something fun. In case you weren't aware, when you take a photo with canon it automatically names it in numerical order. That is how I knew our dying cameras were around 5000 photos each. Well, when I transferred a few photos last night from our new canon, this one was titled "IMG_0001". ha!

Followed by a cute IMG_0002

and a hunny that doesn't enjoy getting his photo taken.... hehe

Ok, now for the moose pics. It does look like good meat I must say. With getting my hunny's animal already, we've decided to put off getting mine. There really is no rush with the extension of the season, and my either sex licence. Hopefully, we will be able to play a little on the snow when we go in for it. Bring on the snow!

Mmmm.... Roast.....Time for me to get ready for work. Hope you all have a lovely day!

Quilting Madness

Hello Everyone!

I just have so much to share with you all, I'm not sure where to even start.

First off, my honey got his moose yesterday! I was so excited for him. When I got home from work, I asked for all the details, and if he got pictures.

His reply: "Nope, we don't have a camera".

My reply: "Well, that's enough of that!"

Did some quick research online, dusted off the visa, and picked up a canon a490 for $88 @ Walmart. SNAP!

I'm so excited. So soon you'll have pictures again.

Meanwhile, I also almost finished the quilt. Just have one last step, then I'll be showing you those photos as well.

This morning I took out my new slowcooker recipe book and decided to give the baked beans a try. Well, here we are 7 hrs later and they are in the oven. Turns out when they were 'finished' according to the recipe, it was a pot of tough white beans in red soup. That's no good, especially when we were planning on bringing them down and sharing with the parents.

So. They are now in the oven, hopefully being saved. Time will tell. Hopefully, not too much time.

Finally, Rob's mom and I got to go see the annual quilt show this afternoon. Blows my mind. It's really more like a fabric art show. I snapped a few pictures with my blackberry while I was there. Just had to show you! They are not the clearest quality, but hopefully you can appreciate how amazing the quilting is.

Here is my attempt at showing you the detail up close.

When we entered, Mom and I were each given a ballot for voting on our favorites. I chose the below quilt as my pick. Not because it had the most intricate detailing, but I loved it. There was a creative element here, instead of a zillion 1inch squares, someone designed these blocks to represent images of wildlife/cabin. It was SO nice.

I took a few pictures of the squares more up close, to try and share with you how great they are.

And here are a few others that I liked alot.

This one was my second favorite. It also had a wildlife theme, and used some really nice fabrics. The little card said the lady made it for her husband, to remind him of home while he worked away. Cute! Here are a couple closeups.

Quilting Madness!

Hope you all enjoyed the picture show. Will be in touch with updates soon, yay for new camera! It's worth the debt, what can I say.

Hope that you all had a great weekend!

CAR PUDDLE

Good morning everyone!

It has been raining.
It feels like it has been raining for weeks.
Even on days we see sun, it still rains.

I have gotten some work done on my nephew's quilt! Now, this is just the top layer but still, come on people. Doesn't this just SCREAM a ridiculous amount of effort?

We also discovered that with all this rain, there's a certain puddle forming. Not outside, but on the floor in the backseat of my car. Not cool. Leak.

and I wanted you all to note how close I have to park to McDonald's everyday when I go into work.
Feel my pain! haha
