SLEDDING HAS BEGUN

We finally got out for our first ride on the sled!

There is so much snow down in the woods, it was hard not to go up to your butt every step off the machine we took. I was glad to know we had our snowshoes with us, if we needed or wanted them.

It snowed from the minute we left, and the entire time we were in the woods.

However, instead of snowshoeing we brought supplies to do other things!
FIRE!

I love a good boil up in the woods. We haven't had one in forever! I'm proud to say that my man has skills! Plus, with the help of the kickass kettle dad gave us we had absolutely perfect cups of hot chocolate. I was pretty cozied in there, what can I say?

Auntie gave us these mugs. They're awesome in the woods! Thanks Auntie! I could've stayed snuggled up in there all day. Well, my butt started to get a bit cold and I was filling up on liquids. Nature was starting to call, and we had a concert to get to later on so....

We eventually had to leave....

The Christmas before last dad gave us this amazing emergency kit. It's got everything we could ever need if we were in trouble, all sealed inside. We never go without it! My dad is AMAZING. He's my hero :)

Either way, we both had an amazing day. I had the most incredible day off on Saturday. In the morning we took the dogs out, and then I spent some time drinking tea, and chatting down with my hunny's mom while him and his dad worked on the truck. I love her, we have good wedding stuff chats. Then, we went in the woods on the snowmobile all afternoon. She worked like a charm!! Finally, we went to the HEART concert saturday night, which I've already told you all about.

Hope you managed to have incredible weekends too!I needed to have the quality time with my man, I love him so much and we don't always manage to get our schedules to work out well enough for that.
This weekend we did!

Go Crazy On You!

They were AMAZING!!! You wouldn't believe how many Heart songs you know! Songs that you hear all the time on the radio, but never stopped to think who sings them. I'd say we knew every one but 2 or 3. PUMPED! We had such an awesome time! Thanks to my cousin Rich for the tickets - so appreciative!! And thanks to the band for being so loud no one could hear me singing my lungs out! BARRACUDA!

LET ME EXPLAIN

Haha so I was all comfy and cozy this morning, just finished my tea and toast, and it was time for Remy's walk. I didn't sleep very well last night, and it looked pretty unnice outside. Chilly. The thought of taking off my snuggly pjs was just too much work. So I figured that I would pull my snow gear on top!

However, I've learned from previous, lazy, early morning experience that it is NEVER a good idea to walk Remy without a bra on. But taking off my pj top was just too much work. Especially after tucking it into my snow pants.

So I grabbed one a bit too big for me, slapped it on top and was good to go!

We had a great walk. I'd like to note it is a lot more work to walk in snow. Haha.

Have a great day!

Ps. I just chuckled that I was too lazy to put my bra on properly, but not too lazy to grab my phone and snap a pic! I'm such a blogger... Lol

VALANCE BEANS

I tried it again - homemade baked beans!

I'm not sure if I told you or not, but last time I gave it a go they didn't turn out right.
The sauce was great.
The consistency was great.
The beans were little hard buggers.

Not this time! Boooooya!

Turned out awesome!
On some fresh, buttered rolls.
Lets see how we feel about them later! Haha.

Oh, Cutie Roomie Jess and I got ourselves into something today....
Something that is going to be alot of fun!

We have been living in this house now about 1.5 years,
have had patio doors since the very beginning (yay for renos!)
and they have been naked all this time.

We have the rod, still in package.
And no icing on the patio door cake.

Why have I been putting it off? Hard to say.
It might have started way back when I fell in love with a valance that wouldn't be mine.
It still sits in the shoppe, no one else has bought it.
They keep dusting it off, and putting it back on the shelf for sale.
However, at $39.99 per panel, and a two panel requirement - it's not practical.

Well........... Cutie Roomie and I stopped into the fabric store today and whadayaknow?
They were having a 30% off sale!

SALE!

So we settled on some fabrics.
Had incredible fun picking them out. At one point we had seven matching, coordinating pieces!
Finally, in the end, we narrowed it down to three.

The plan is to do some sort of quilting pattern.
I will also come up with a photo of our too expensive inspiration.
I believe cutie roomie snapped a secret one with her phone last time we drooled.

And now I'm ending this blog because our computer is so slow it has taken a full hour to get just this little bit posted.
This girl wasn't granted with any more patience than that.

Hope you enjoyed your day as much as I enjoyed my day off!

Xoxo.

WALK

While the beans were finishing up in the oven, we thought that we'd walk the dogs up to the bakery for some fresh rolls. Mmm. Bear is behind, trailing Jess in the snow :)

FAITH

There are things important, crucial even, to being happy in life.

I think one of those is faith.

If you look up faith in the dictionary it says:

"confidence or trust, in a person or thing"
(source: http://www.dictionary.com/)

It doesn't have to be a religious faith, although it can be.
Happiness in life begins with a faith in other people.

Yes, people are screwups. Watch the news. It's scary.
But we still need to have faith, that people are good.

Yes, sometimes we screwup. Argue. Get upset with each other.
But we still need to have faith, that it will be worked out.

Tomorrow the sun will shine.
It may be behind a bunch of sad-looking clouds, but just having faith that even when
we cannot see it, the sun is still up there shining.

If you can do this. If you can have faith in good things and people,
I think that you will find more reasons to smile.

WINTER AND BEAR

Bear is 100% perfect, for any of you wondering. Nothing 3 trips to the vet in one week can't fix! Haha. We still aren't completely sure the cause, other than reconfirming that we have the absolute best vet ever. I am not just saying that. He really went above and beyond, and no one appreciates that more than two hard working pet parents with a tiny, practically non existent budget.

All that matters is our little man is back to his usual, goofball self!

and how did we celebrate? We went out and played in the new snow this weekend!

In case you don't live around here, I will tell you...
We haven't had any snow this winter.

I know we took pictures a week or so ago, out snowshoeing.
Well it disappeared really. And was mud underneath the snow.
Nothing has frozen.

Until this week!

These pictures were just the beginning. We've gotten FEET.
Seriously!
So once it started to snow, and Bear was more himself, AND I happened to have saturday afternoon off work, what better thing to do than go play in the fluffy white stuff?
Ooooo, we went for a lovely walk!

The caption for this one should read:
"Here lover, hold my coffee for me? I'm going to take your picture"

Hehe, secretly, I love it when he takes photos.
He's much better at it than he thinks he is.

I love my life!

I will try to get out in the new snow
Show you how deep it is!

Plus take a record in case it disappears again. Eeep!

BEAR UPDATE

Well,

He's not throwing up anymore, and the diarrhea seems to have stopped. At least the worst of it.

He sleeps.

I took him for a bit of a walk in the park yesterday morning, with Remy, because I thought the fresh air and exercise may help him get his thirst or hunger back.

No luck. Although he did seem to enjoy his time.

He just sleeps.

We've been keeping a close eye on him. So far he hasn't eaten or drank anything on his own.

He is on two different medicines, which he takes twice per day. Hunny and I are vigilantly keeping them on schedule.

I'm going to call the vet this morning and just ask advice re: eating and drinking. I don't want him to dehydrate. Auntie messaged me with some really good ways to try to keep the liquids in him. Those might be very helpful this weekend.

When Bear saw his doctor on wed, they gave him an injection of fluids to help combat dehydration. Perhaps they will want to do that again today.

It could be a long weekend if our little man doesn't start feeling better.

On a really positive note, Remy shows zero signs or symptoms. The vet felt that this wasn't something she could catch. Thank goodness!

I hope that everyone has a really great weekend!
Stay healthy and happy :)

SICK LIL BEAR MAN

So, poor Bear and I were up all night.

In hindsight, I wish I'd known a week ago what I know now.

Hunny and I were both so frustrated with him the last few nights, for keeping us awake and not allowing us to sleep.
What was his problem anyway? Why was he being suck a jerk? It was just the sort of thing I could see him doing outa stubborn spite.

Except.

He loves his sleep.

Well, last night the little boy and I were up all night but for an all together different reason than him being a brat.

He was terribly sick.

Bear ran to the door three times last night so that he could relieve himself of what sounded like violent diarrhea.

and vomiting.

Everything he ate came back up in chunks.

All the water he drank soon after came back up as well.

So, now he's dozing but he's empty. Has given up trying to eat or drink anything.

I'm waiting for the vet's office to open, so hopefully I can arrange for them to see his doctor today. While both myself and hunny have to work, his father is free and offered to take him down for us.

I'm concerned about him feeling so crappy, dehydrating himself before this passes, and we do not wish Remy to catch the bug either. They are cuddling now, and there's no keeping them apart. One sick dog is enough.

Will keep you posted.

FETCHING SUNDAY

Day off! Woo hoo!

I'm enjoying relaxing, chilling with cutie roomie Jess and wishing my hunny hadn't got called into work. The original Willy Wonky and the Chocolate Factory is on tv, and as a fun side note - Jess was an oompa loompa for Halloween last year. So we went through some of those pictures and had a chuckle.

We did get a chance to go play some fetch this morning! In snow, which we finally have!!! YAY! Honestly, I think that playing in the fresh snow with the family is my absolute favorite thing in the world to do. It brings me such joy~

See that man in the picture.

The one right there?

To the left?

I love him :)

Today was the first chance Remy had to play fetch since she began her cycle over a month ago.
We believe she is close to finished, if not all done, and therefore we took a chance first thing and brought the dogs out.
A really nice husky sheppard mix her age showed up as we were leaving, but hunny and I just didn't feel comfortable letting her play yet.
That was maybe a bit too risky.
Soon!

Now, shortly, cutie roomie and I are going to run to walmart and see if we can't get another winter mat to put by the door. We seem to be tracking in a bit of snow, now that it's finally here.

I love days off.
I love snow!

SHE'S BACK!

Jess is back! I'm pumped - although I learnt last night that doesn't mean I can stay up late *yawn*.

It is also the first morning I woke up to a chilly house in awhile. This is probably a combination of a) it hasn't been cold outside very often, and b) my hunny was worried about waking her so he didn't light one before he went to work this morning.

I went down and lit one.... we are just going to have to..... brrr....

~*~

I gotta tell you about a deal!

This is the point where anyone who doesn't want to hear wedding planning stuff can stop reading.

It's not something I was really thinking about but it sorta fell in my lap.

In fact, I just assumed I'd make our invitations - we have alot of time and that'd be the most economical, right?

Well not if you happen to get some really nice ones at Carleton Cards for 90% OFF! What is THAT?! I passed the table out front of the store the other day and couldn't believe it.

So I bought all 6 packs of 10, for $1.19/ea!!

It was just too sick of a deal not to do it. I figure for $8, even if all we used were the pretty envelopes I still had to pick them up.

Also, after much mental debate and some serious discussions, I believe the color palate has been set! Will update you soon! Just want to run it by my hunny first.

~*~

Has anyone used skype? Is my computer too slow for it?

Hunny's mom is still winning the Christmas Card competition and today is the last day. Boooooooooo! Will update you on the final count after we get the mail today.....

Have a great one!

SNOWSHOE SEASON

Has Begun!

Today we got to lace up, well... buckle up the snowshoes for the first time this season!

It was awesome! We needed to take Remy back into the woods so she could run free and stretch her legs. Hopefully she will be out of heat soon.
What better excuse do we need to throw the snowshoes in the back of the truck?

Hunting season isn't quite over yet, so we made sure to dress for the occasion.
Remy included. Bear never goes far enough from us that it's an issue.

It's amazing that the first of January is here, and under all this snow nothing is frozen.
Complete wet and muck.
As the dogs quickly discovered! haha

and after snowshoeing.....
how about a quick game of fetch in the snow!
Luckily for us the day was mild, not so luckily for the white fluff on the ground.

We had an amazing day.
On top of spending time outside, we also go our tree down and the house cleaned.
Now we are watching Ironman 2 and preparing to go for what will likely be our last Christmas Light Drive of the year.
I love Christmas lights.

Happy New Years Everyone!

I hope that you all had an amazing 2010 (LIKE I DID!), and that your 2011 will bring you nothing but the best of health and happiness.

Unfortunately, we are due for mild temperatures and rain tomorrow.
I'm so glad we got this snowshoe in before we lost our snow again.

I'm not a fan of global warming. What can I say.
