MUGGY GIRL

Tea Mugs.

Love em!

In fact, I have a couple. Not enough perhaps to call it a collection... but a select few. I drink out of the same one almost every day, unless it's dirty, so I don't need a hundred. (Everyone knows how much I love a great cup of tea!). My amazing friend Jess C. sent me a surprise yesterday! In fact, she was the person last year that went with me to pick out the first two mugs. One for her, one for me. I love her. You can imagine how happy I was to get a cute card and new tea mug unexpectedly in the mail yesterday.

Now, these are not your grandma's dainty tea cups. In order to enter into the "collection", it  must be solid, sturdy and hold a significant amount of tea. They are big mugs. I'm sure from the picture, you can figure out which mug is my hunny's. Can you guess which is mine? You might be surprised....

Yes. I love cheerios too.

Haha, have a great saturday! I'm going to run and get ready for work....

COLOURFUL SQUARE

It is amazing how easily one can forget a luxury, when you're used to it.

This morning I was reminded how much I appreciate having my own vehicle again. With my hunny's truck in the garage, I got up with him at 5:30am to drive him to work. Normally, that wouldn't be a big deal as my own alarm is set for 5:55am.... however today was the one day this week I didn't have to work until 1pm.... so I would've woken up 7:30am instead. Needless to say, once I got back from the little zip I was wide awake.

What better time to finish my mini-quilt?! In hindsight, perhaps I should have had a cup of tea first.... ohhhhh the headache... hehe

The sandwich is more complicated than you would think. There is also the chance that I didn't perform the task in the proper order, and hence ran into one or two minor issues. That is precisely why it is a learning quilt! Things move. I am not quite sure how, there were pins galore. Sew, sew, sew, wait how did that get over there? Or where did all the fabric go? Or even better, where did all that fabric come from?

I don't have pictures yet, because a) the camera is out in the car and I'm not motivated enough to run out and get it, and b) this lighting would require the flash, which washes all the colour out of the photo. Doesn't make it look as pretty as possible. Right now, the little lesson quilt needs all the help it can get.

Overall, I'm very happy with the weight. I filled with an old heavy flannel type material that auntie gave me. Perfect! I can't wait to show you! Hopefully, I will get the chance in the morning.

Good night everyone!
xoxo

p.s. As you can see, I've gone ahead and replaced the dog photos with the mini lesson quilt photos. It is such a dark and dingy morning that I ended up using the flash anyway. Darnit! Oh well. Hope you all have a lovely morning! *hugs*

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

Have you ever tried to fit too many things into too little time to accomplish them all? My hunny accuses me of this all the time. It's frustrating! I'm pretty sure there is a conspiracy, that non-work time passes me by twice as fast.

Either way, I wanted to tell you I'm so excited! I tried last night, but didn't get the chance to sit and type.

It is here!

FALL

I love it.

You can taste it. I know, you think that doesn't make sense - but it is true. There is an exact moment every year when you feel it. Sense it. Know it. Fall is here. Not just cool weather or chilly breezes.... but fall.

Say goodbye to the warm sleepless nights, and black flies. Say hello to red, yellow and orange trees with crunchy, fallen leaves.

I'm pretty sure she came in with Earl.

He came by for a quick visit on saturday night and left quite the impression. When I lived in Halifax, hurricanes were fairly common. Not so much here. What effect did he have on us? Well besides scaring little Bear out of his wits, wind making our living room sound ready to take off ..... our garden took the biggest hit.

But really, it wasn't nearly so bad as some of the other gardens in town!

I hope that no one had any serious issues with the storm. Have a fantastic wednesday!

Keep Smiling!

LABOUR DAY MONDAY

So much has happened! First off, my hands smell like Christmas trees and I can't stop sniffing them. But that's a later on story....

This morning, the sun was shining (and the wind was blowing) so we set out to the beach. We both agreed that since Remy doesn't tend to remember things for overly long periods of time, we should get her swimming and fetching sticks again before the water gets too cold.

So off to Bottle Cove we went!

Except we had one issue, hurricane Earl had left its mark. Not only was the beach covered in seaweed, but the water was full of it as well. So we couldn't really play on the sand, which was a small area with the high tide, and we couldn't get in the water because it was nasty as well. Remy wasn't having any luck remembering how to fetch sticks on the beach either.

Not worth staying.

So we relocated to the York Harbour beach instead. There, we did much better! (Although, the water was alot colder!).

After a swim and visit with Auntie for quilting help, we booted back to town. I wouldn't be me if I weren't trying to fit more than enough things into one day off. What better way to spend a sunny, september afternoon than wild blueberry picking with my hunny and his mom?

I didn't remember ever doing this before. Personally, I thought it was a whole lot easier than when we went raspberry picking. I was the only one who felt that way, they didn't mind telling me.

Between the three of us we picked an entire bucketful! In fact, I've already had a bowl while I was uploading photos. So yummy.....

Finally, on our way home we made it in time to pull over with the crowds and watching the funeral procession go by for Brian Pinksen. The entire route over town was nothing but yellow ribbons, Canada flags and banners. I was moved to almost tears. All along the highway from the airport people gathered, including the legion in full uniform with flags flying. In town, the procession was met by crowds. I was holding back tears in the car as we made our way back home. I know, I never knew him.... but I still found myself upset at the loss and moved by the community support.

P.s.

Thanks to my hunny's sister Rochelle for picking up a massive bag of dog rawhides at Costco, on her trip to Halifax! We are appreciating the treat!
